Martha F. Jay, Ph.D., M.D.
Ophthalmologist – Eye Physician and Surgeon
Dr. Martha F. Jay is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with extensive experience in the medical and surgical care of the eyes. She trained at the prestigious Northwestern University Department of Ophthalmology, completing her residency in 1992 to found Lakeshore Eye Care Professionals in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Dr. Martha Jay is the past president of the local professional society of ophthalmologists (Milwaukee Ophthalmological Society), a testament to her standing with her peers. She has been active in refractive surgery from the days of RK (radial keratotomy) and is an accomplished LASIK surgeon. Before medical school, Dr. Jay completed a Ph.D. in Physiology. She did pioneering work in the vision field, publishing her dissertation project in the top medical journal, “Nature.”
She is on the staff of Columbia-St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon where she performs cataract surgery and laser treatments for glaucoma and diabetes. She does her LASIK surgery at the Wisconsin Eye Laser Center in Brookfield, Wisconsin which is equipped with the latest technology including the IntraLase and VISX Star S4 lasers.
Dr. Jay is not all work, however. She and her husband, a professor of English at UWM, enjoy downtown living. They have a college-age daughter. In the summer, look for them sailing on Lake Michigan. In the winter, it’s off to the ski slopes.
